Prisma Photonics Deploys AI-Driven Dynamic Line Rating Technology for German Grid Operator

By MGN EditorialMarch 4, 2026 at 09:35 PM

Prisma Photonics partners with TransnetBW to evaluate AI-powered dynamic line rating technology on power circuits in Germany, supporting the country's energy transition goals.

Prisma Photonics, an Israeli grid monitoring technology company, has announced a deployment of its PrismaPower™ solution with German grid operator TransnetBW. The AI-driven dynamic line rating technology will be evaluated across 120 kilometers of power circuits, with the goal of improving grid flexibility and supporting Germany's energy transition. According to the press release, the deployment will allow TransnetBW to 'evaluate AI-driven dynamic line rating technology on three power circuits.' Dynamic line rating uses real-time data to adjust the maximum capacity of power lines, in contrast to static ratings. This can unlock additional transmission capacity and enable greater integration of renewable energy sources. 'The deployment of PrismaPower™ Technology across 120 Kilometers supports Germany's Energy Transition and Grid Flexibility Goals,' the release states. Prisma Photonics' solution utilizes advanced optical fiber sensing and AI to monitor power lines and provide dynamic ratings. The partnership with TransnetBW represents an important step for Prisma Photonics as it seeks to commercialize its technology with major grid operators. 'We are excited to work with TransnetBW to evaluate the benefits of our AI-driven dynamic line rating solution,' said Eran Inbar, CEO of Prisma Photonics. 'This deployment is a testament to the growing demand for grid flexibility and the role that innovative technologies can play in supporting the energy transition.' The announcement comes as grid operators worldwide face the challenge of integrating increasing amounts of renewable energy while maintaining reliability. Solutions like dynamic line rating can help unlock additional transmission capacity and improve the efficiency of existing infrastructure. As Germany continues its ambitious energy transition, partnerships like this one between Prisma Photonics and TransnetBW will be crucial.
