Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL Launch Joint Innovation Laboratory for EV Charging Technology

By MGN EditorialJune 18, 2026 at 12:00 AM

Shell Recharge and Chinese power electronics firm SINEXCEL have inaugurated a joint innovation laboratory in Shenzhen, marking a significant step in their collaboration to advance electric vehicle charging solutions.

## Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL Open Joint EV Charging Lab in Shenzhen Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL (300693.SZ) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding and inaugurated the Shell Recharge–SINEXCEL Joint Laboratory in Shenzhen, China, according to a PR Newswire release dated 18 June 2026. The facility represents a new milestone in the two companies' ongoing partnership to accelerate innovation in electric vehicle (EV) charging technology. The joint laboratory is positioned to drive research and development in advanced EV charging infrastructure, an area of growing relevance to the maritime and port sectors as terminals and logistics hubs worldwide accelerate electrification programmes for cargo handling equipment, port vehicles, and shoreside operations. SINEXCEL, a Shenzhen-listed power electronics specialist, brings deep expertise in power conversion and energy management systems, while Shell Recharge contributes its global EV charging network and energy transition strategy. Together, the partnership is expected to yield innovations applicable not only to road transport but potentially to the broader energy infrastructure supporting port and maritime facilities. The establishment of the laboratory underscores the increasing convergence of energy majors and technology manufacturers in the race to develop faster, more efficient, and more reliable charging solutions. For the maritime industry, where port electrification and cold ironing — the provision of shore power to vessels at berth — are becoming regulatory priorities under IMO and regional emissions frameworks, advances in high-capacity charging and power management technology carry direct operational significance. No financial terms of the MoU were disclosed. Further details on the laboratory's research agenda and expected output timelines are anticipated as the partnership develops.
