By MGN EditorialMarch 7, 2026 at 07:47 PM

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is searching for a new leader after the announcement that Glyn Hughes will be stepping down as Director General.

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) is in the market for a new Director General after Glyn Hughes announced plans to resign from the role. According to FreightWaves, Hughes has served as TIACA's Director General since 2018. He will be departing the organization at the end of 2022, though the specific timing of his exit is still to be determined. TIACA is the leading international association for the air cargo industry, representing airlines, airports, ground handlers, freight forwarders, shippers, and other stakeholders. Under Hughes' leadership, the group has worked to promote sustainability, digitalization, and other key priorities for the air cargo sector. 'It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Director General of TIACA over the past four years,' Hughes said in a statement. 'I am proud of what we have achieved together in driving the air cargo industry forward.' The TIACA Board of Directors has initiated a search process to find Hughes' replacement. In the meantime, the association will continue its work advocating for the air cargo industry and facilitating collaboration between its diverse membership. 'Glyn has been an outstanding leader for TIACA, and we are grateful for his many contributions,' said Steven Polmans, Chair of the TIACA Board. 'We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.' The new Director General will be tasked with building on TIACA's progress and steering the organization through the evolving challenges facing the air cargo industry. This includes issues like supply chain disruptions, sustainability initiatives, and the increasing role of technology and automation. Identifying the right leader will be a critical priority for TIACA as it seeks to maintain its position as the preeminent voice for the global air cargo community.
