The Top 5 carriers - Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, Cosco, and Hapag-Lloyd - will now control a staggering 67% of global container capacity, up from 59% just a few years ago. This consolidation leaves smaller carriers struggling to compete, as they are unable to match the economies of scale and operational efficiencies of the industry giants. 'Other smaller carriers being left behind' as a result of this trend, the report notes.
