University of Nebraska's NSRI Awarded $500M Contract for Warfighter Solutions

The National Strategic Research Institute at the University of Nebraska received a $500 million contract to accelerate development of defense R&D solutions for the U.S. military.

The National Strategic Research Institute (NSRI) at the University of Nebraska has been awarded a $500 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to continue its partnership with U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) in developing deterrence and defense research and development solutions for the U.S. warfighter. According to the press release, the contract 'continues NSRI, USSTRATCOM trusted partnership for deterrence, defense R&D.' The NSRI has worked closely with USSTRATCOM for over a decade, leveraging the university's research capabilities to accelerate the delivery of 'warfighter-ready solutions.' 'This contract award is a testament to the world-class research and innovation happening at the University of Nebraska,' said NU President Ted Carter. 'NSRI's deep expertise and trusted partnership with USSTRATCOM make them a critical national security asset, and we're proud to continue supporting their important work.' The IDIQ contract will enable NSRI to rapidly develop and field new technologies, systems, and capabilities to strengthen U.S. deterrence and defense. This includes research areas such as hypersonics, directed energy, space, cyber, and other emerging threats, according to the press release.
