Volvo Trucks North America has begun serial production of its 90% redesigned VNR regional-haul tractor at its plant in Dublin, Virginia, with initial deliveries to a Tennessee homebuilder.

Volvo Trucks North America has launched serial production of its 90% redesigned VNR regional-haul tractor at the New River Valley plant in Dublin, Virginia, according to a report from FreightWaves. The new VNR model features a range of updates and improvements over the previous generation. Initial deliveries of the redesigned VNR will go to Tennessee-based homebuilder Clayton, Volvo Trucks said. The company's New River Valley plant in Virginia is the main production site for Volvo's North American truck lineup. The VNR is a key model in Volvo's regional-haul truck portfolio, competing in the highly competitive medium-duty and heavy-duty segments. The extensive redesign aims to improve the truck's performance, efficiency, safety, and driver experience to better meet the needs of regional freight operators. 'This is an important milestone for Volvo Trucks North America as we continue to invest in and strengthen our regional-haul offering,' said Peter Voorhoeve, president of Volvo Trucks North America. 'The new VNR is a reflection of our commitment to providing customers with the most advanced, productive and sustainable solutions to meet their business needs.' The launch of the redesigned VNR comes as the North American truck market remains strong, driven by healthy freight demand and investment in fleet renewal and expansion. Volvo will be looking to the new VNR to help it maintain its position as a leading supplier of regional-haul tractors in this competitive segment.
