Worley Expands FEED Work for Cypriot Gas Development

Australian engineering firm Worley has been appointed by Chevron to provide more front-end engineering and design (FEED) work for a gas development project in Cyprus.

Australian engineering and consulting firm Worley has been awarded additional front-end engineering and design (FEED) work for Chevron's gas development project in Cyprus, according to an announcement from Offshore Energy. Worley will provide FEED services for the Aphrodite gas field development, which is located in Block 12 of the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The Aphrodite field was discovered in 2011 and is estimated to contain around 4.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Chevron, the operator of the Aphrodite project, selected Worley to carry out the additional FEED scope following the company's previous work on the development. The new FEED contract will see Worley support Chevron in progressing the design and planning for the offshore production facilities and associated infrastructure. 'We are pleased to continue supporting Chevron on this important project in Cyprus,' said Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley. 'Our teams have worked collaboratively with Chevron to progress the development of the Aphrodite field, and we look forward to building on this relationship.' The Aphrodite gas field development is a key project for Cyprus as the country seeks to monetize its offshore natural gas resources. The development is expected to play a significant role in Cyprus' transition towards a more sustainable energy mix and reduce the country's reliance on imported fuels.
