About

Port Wallhamn is a container, RoRo, timber and vehicle port in Sweden, located some 50 kilometres north of Gothenburg, close to the E6 motorway connecting Oslo and Malmö/Copenhagen.

During 1999, 14.675 containers, 32.300 vehicles and 50.000m³ of sawn timber were handled and more than 30.000m² of indoor storage exist. One of the largest PDI-plants in the country for import vehicles, that annually make more than 20.000 cars ready for the Swedish market, is an essential part of the company. Among the liner shipping companies with weekly sailings are Grimaldi (RoRo to the Mediterranean), Samskip (containers to U.K. and the Continent), Baltic Container Line (feeder service from Gdynia via Wallhamn for Bremerhafen and Hamburg)and E. H. Harms (RoRo to U.K. and the Continent). In addition, Wallenius-Wilhelmsen Lines, K-Line, MOSK and NYK call regurarly with their PCTC vessels carrying import vehicles for the Wallhamn PDI plant. All activities are ISO 9002 approved and the preparation for environmental certification, ISO 14001, is under way.
