Lone Star opened in January 1997 to serve the growing transportation needs of Houston's energy market. Two years after opening Lone Star joined forces with R.S. Platou to form Lone Star R.S. Platou. Lone Star RS Platou has grown into one of the leading brokers houses in the US conducting business in all market segments from ULCC's to Handymaxes, Crude oil, Products, Chemicals, LPG, LNG and CNG. Through the combined efforts of our spot desk and our Sale and Projects (S&P) department we cover all types of transactions from spot charters to multi year time charters and S&P. Lone Star RS Platou's customer base includes all the major U.S. oil companies and most of the trading companies as well. Through our extensive broker network we are able to fully satisfy our customer's needs worldwide. Lone Star seeks to maximize its Houston-based geographic advantage by hosting an annual tanker seminar put on by Platou's research group and numerous other industry-wide functions throughout the year. The partnership allows Lone Star to pool research activities of two of the world’s largest ship brokering companies. We can therefore offer analysis and presentations of all tanker markets in order to assist our clients.
