Welcome to Shell Exploration and Production The Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies - usually known as Shell - has grown out of an alliance, made in 1907 between Royal Dutch Petroleum Company in The Netherlands and The "Shell" Transport and Trading Company, p.l.c., in the UK. Today the Group has five core businesses of which Exploration and Production is one. The others are Oil Products, Chemicals, Gas and Power, and Renewables. Shell companies have been exploring for and producing hydrocarbons for over a century. Today, they have interests in exploration and production ventures in 34 countries and employ around 28,500 staff. Exploration and production is the foundation of the petroleum industry. Sometimes known as the `upstream' business, it extends from the search for hydrocarbons, through to the delivery of oil or gas to the refinery. Shell companies continue to face the challenge of exploring for and producing oil and gas against a background of fluctuating prices and have responded with innovative technical solutions. Research efforts are directed towards ever more sophisticated technologies that can increase cost efficiency while improving safety and environmental performance.

"Environmentally Responsible SPURS Line and Net Cuter Systems is meeting the challenge by preventing oil seal damage from line and net intrusion in the seal and bearing area of medium and large vessles. Since the Oil Pollution act of 1990 (imposing heavy penalties for oil leaks), the US Coast Guard has been ordered to advise vessels that " the source of the leak must be immediately secured." Whether long line, drift netting, floating tow lines or dock lines, SPURS propeller mounted Large and Medium Vessel Line and Net Cutter is designed to cut away lines, nets, etc. before entanglement begins. This minimizes costly diving charges, bearing the seal damage, and idle dry-dock time. As line is grabbed by the propeller, it is wound toward the propeller hub and picked up by the rotating cutter blade, where it is instantly cut, forward to reverse, and washed away, clearing the propeller with each revolution.
