For more than forty years, Eurogrit BV has been a major producer and supplier of blastcleaning abrasives for surface preparation of metal and stone materials. The company has been known even longer as a renowned producer and supplier of specialty sand and gravel products. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our history The roots of the company’s activities date back to the year 1818, when Pieter van Loon established himself in the small village of Vreeswijk, as an independent supplier of sand quarried from a nearby riverbed. The company has subsequently been handed from generation to generation and continues to grow. After the 2nd World War, expansion was found in other materials such as fillers and flooring products. By then, silica sand was also being marketed as an abrasive for sandblasting. Gradually however, it became known that sandblasting carried a health risk through a condition of the lungs known as “silicosis”. As a result, in 1957, the Dutch government promulgated the Silicosis Law, which included the Sandblasting Decree, banning the use of (silica) sand for all sandblasting applications (in-house or outside, dry and wet alike) in The Netherlands. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Export By reacting swiftly to this new situation, the company has successfully managed to build up an important market position in the industry supplying a variety of abrasives that substitute and/or complement silica sand. In the early 1970s, the first export efforts were initiated, based on quality, speed and service and the company has since built a worldwide reputation as a reliable source of supply for virtually every kind of abrasive. A substantial part of the business is now export-related, with the company and its products represented in almost all parts of the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our locations The companys headoffice is located in The Netherlands, at Nieuwegein - a municipality comprising the old village of Vreeswijk, the original founding place of the company. Modern production- and export shipping facilities are operated at both Nieuwegein and Dordrecht. The two product service lines that historically have helped maritime companies and self insured employers save millions of dollars has been, 1. Medical Nurse Case Management - where we receive notification of the injury claim within the first 24 hours and the nurse coordinates all the medical care advising our clients on the course of the medical portion of the claim. The benefits resulting in an earlier release to full duty or obtaining medical information early in the claim so that the employer or shipowner can be pre-warned if the injured party cannot go back to work or in the case of a passenger outlining and controlling reasonable rehabilitation costs. 2. On the back end of the claim there is Medical Bill Auditing, this is done by our Med-Check division, by nurses who review medical records, who search for CPT codes errors and look to alleviate any fraud or over exaggeration in medical billing. We audit all medical services of any kind in every state. The plaintiff attorneys in the U.S. along with a small portion of medical providers have been working together to escalate medical damages related to maritime accident claims. The Federal Jones Act and The Federal Long Shore Act does not limit liability awards on maritime claims and therefore it has become an arena for fraud and abuse. The maritime industry can defend against these claims with the proper use of medical cost containment services.
