When Captain A.N. Petersen came ashore in 1920 and founded the company bearing his name, he was regarded as a forerunner. In the early years A.N. Petersen enjoyed a close association with A/S Det Dansk-Franske Dampskibsselskab, as well as being managing owners for several Danish shipping companies. However, like other professions, shipping often and rapidly changes patterns and in 1979 the brokers of the company took over the ownership. A.N. Petersen then became a wholly independent competitive shipbrokering company enjoying the experience of the past, progressive ideas of the present, and belief in the future.
