When 20-year-old Danish blacksmith Vilhelm Petersen sailed into Boston Harbor, little did he know that his journey would lead to the establishment of American Tool Companies, Inc. The Apex Marine Group is comprised of Apex Marine Ship Management Co., L.L.C. and Apex Bulk Carriers. The company history dates back to 1967, when it purchased its first tanker from the Lemos group. We continued to operate as a specialty marine electrical distributor at 2nd and Howard Street (San Francisco) until 1981 when Bill Beck and George Vaio spearheaded our move to an 18,000 square ft. facility in Emeryville California to better serve the Port of Oakland container vessels and the terminal facilities located there. Today we find ourselves once again under the same roof as our parent company Dahl-Beck Electric where we operate within an even larger 46,000 square ft. and more efficient facility in Richmond California.
